The U.K. sanctions landscape has evolved significantly in recent years, with increasing emphasis on enforcement, deterrence, and corporate accountability. Recent developments, including HMRC’s move towards publicly naming companies subject to compound settlements, raise questions about what effective sanctions enforcement should look like and what role enforcement plays in making sanctions work.
This roundtable will bring together government, industry and sanctions practitioners to explore the purpose and effectiveness of enforcement, the evolving use of public naming and penalties, the relationship between regulators and businesses, and how the U.K. can measure whether its approach is achieving the intended outcomes.
