About this webinar
The EU’s 20th sanctions package marks its most expansive round of economic pressure since 2022 – signaling a new phase in the bloc’s approach to Russia. With broader listings, deeper sectoral measures, and unprecedented tools targeting circumvention, it raises the bar for compliance across global markets.
These latest measures introduce complex, multi-layered controls. Pressure on Russia’s energy sector continues to intensify, with new sanctions spanning the full oil value chain – from extraction to shipping – and early groundwork for a potential maritime services ban to crack down on “shadow fleet” tankers used to bypass trade restrictions.
However, a defining feature of this new sanctions package is its emphasis on enforcement. For the first time, the EU has activated its anti-circumvention tool, imposing targeted export bans on critical components to Kyrgyzstan due to diversion risks. This landmark move signals a more assertive stance on re-export hubs and indirect trade flows – and a heightened expectation for exporters to understand where their goods ultimately end up.
Join Kharon as we unpack these key enforcement measures and provide practical insights for navigating an increasingly complex EU sanctions landscape.
